摘要
In recent years, a number of workers have attempted to form Fe16N2 using different methods since the material was shown to have a large saturation magnetization (298 emu/g). Recently it was reported that Fe16N2 can be grown epitaxially on MgO dominant orientations of (100)Fe(110)MgO and (001)Fe(001)MgO under a substrate heating at 450°C. In this paper a multishot nitrogen implantation experiment is described. The results indicate that the multi-shot nitrogen implantation into single crystalline iron films is available for synthesis of high Bs iron nitride films. It appears that the increase of saturation magnetization is not only due to α″-martensite (Fe16N2) but also to α′. The saturation magnetization of the nitrogen martensite composed of both α′ and α″ phase was 257 emu/g at the least. The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy induced by the nitrogen implantation can be explained by the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of the nitrogen martensite whose easy axis is parallel to 〈001〉.
