摘要：
An improved scheme for single-phase converter system has been proposed which uses half the number of thyristors and associated circuitary as compared to a circuit described by R. T. Irish. It does not require the usual isolation or the step-down transformer required in earlier schemes. It has lower output voltage harmonic components and higher displacement factor, although the power factor is slightly less. The system is economical and its performance is comparable to the Irish scheme.
