Nonlinearity effect of radiation modulators, based on the linear and quadratic electrooptic effect and luminescent semiconductor diodes, on the the phase errors in the presence of higher harmonics in the modulating voltages was studied showing that if the position of the operating point of the modulators falls outside the inflection point and second harmonic is present the phase error may reach several degrees; that this error changes cyclically with a period pi during the phase change of the first harmonic of the modulating voltage.
