Public lighting in Holland

The author presents new recommendations on public lighting as practised within the area board in Friesland. Main characteristics of the new recommendations are: promotion of traffic safety and of public security, balance between lighting techniques and energy consumption, community support, classes of lighting, and distinction between traffic areas and residential areas.
