No two computer networks are alike, making networked router performance difficult to predict and quantify. Standardizing on a router vendor can be a major decision. Investments in WANs are large, and routers can be a weak link in a highly redundant topology. Vendors and their router products are discussed to aid network managers in making an appropriate selection.
