A review is given of the current status and future trends of development of new and improved welding and flame cutting techniques applicable in heavy machine construction. Covered is CO//2-shielded welding, submerged arc welding, MIG and TIG welding with pulse superposition, welding with magnetically movable arc for tubes and pipes, gas-shielded flame cutting, and precision flame cutting.
