The processing of PVC-NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) compounds in powdered form has been discussed. Advantages of powder over conventional processing were reviewed. The special requirements of NBR for blending with PVC were noted. Thermal stability requirements were emphasized. Typical compound formulations for nonvulcanized applications were given. The effect of compound variations on physical properties indicated. Injection molding of shoe soles was given as an example.
