Low-energy electron diffraction, Auger electron spectroscopy, and soft x-ray spectroscopy of the excitation potentials were used to investigate structural ordering in adsorbed laYers of CO and CO//2 molecules on (110) and (100) surfaces of GaAs, GaP, and InP crystals. Various mechanisms of the interaction of the CO molecules with the (110) and (100) surfaces of III-V compounds are proposed. The atomic structure of the adsorbed phase is considered on the basis of the mechanisms of interaction of the Co and CO//2 molecules with the (110) and (100) surfaces of III-V compounds.
