An experimental study was conducted on the diffusion flame in a two dimensional shear flow. From the instantaneous shadowgraph picture, it is made clear that this flame is a pseudo-turbulent diffusion flame which has a two dimensional eddy structure and periodic nature. From the spectrum analysis of fluctuating temperature with and without sound, it is shown that there is a frequency region in which the frequency of the fluctuating temperature is equal to that of sound. The range of this region changes with the velocity slip between fuel and air. Also, it is made clear that sound has the opposite effect on fluctuation in a pseudo-turbulent diffusion flame. At one frequency, sound promotes fluctuation, and at the other frequency, it suppresses fluctuation. This indicates the possibility of controlling diffusion flame by sound.
