On August 18, 1987, the last of the six Ekofisk North Sea gas platforms were jacked up, a spectacular achievement for the French firms which had been working day and night for months to meet this deadline. This article describes the raising operation and is a sequel to a previous article which was published in the SA Mechanical Engineer of April 1987.
