Classification of Automatic Lines.

A classification of automatic lines based on two main categories: synchronous (rigid) automatic lines, and asynchronous (flexible) lines, is proposed. Further subdivisions are: lines with satellite machines and without them; straight-through and indirect conveying lines; branching and non-branching lines. The last characteristic according to which classification is made is the character of machining or operation carried out on the line. In this respect the following types are distinguished: machining; mechanical and assembly; assembly; integrated; semi-product preparing; stamping; heat treatment; inspection and measurement; electric erosion; packing; conservation. Various variants of automatic lines are considered.
