The thermostat described, which has been designed for neutron-diffraction studies, does not introduce any distortions into the beam of neutrons diffracted from the specimen. The range of operating temperatures is 300-1300 degree K and the vacuum is 10** minus **6 torr. The thermostat permits liquid, solid, and amorphous specimens to be studied.
