The inauguration of Phu My 3 combined-cycle power plant on April 3, 2004 in a grand opening ceremony in the presence of the top authorities of the Vietnam Socialist Republic is discussed. The plant is located 70 km from Ho Chi Minh City. The project investors and operators are BP, SembCorp Utilities and Kyushu Electric & Nissho Iwai, each one with a one-third stake. The Phy My industrial area comprises a urea plant, steel rolling mill and gas distribution center.
