Results of hydrodynamic tests of a fluidized bed furnace with impulse air feeding using models and a pilot industrial boiler with the heat output capacity of 6. 6 Mw are presented. It is shown that impulse air feeding may help to break up gas bubbles and, as a result, to contribute to a better filling of the bed with gas, more uniform air distribution, elimination of slagging and decrease of the excess air coefficient, increase in the residence time of fuel particles in the bed, decrease of the carry off of unburnt particles, improvement of the operation of the furnace on low loads.
