摘要
A simple process has been developed which renders fiber curl permanent in high-yield pulps. It consists of a heat treatment of the already curled pulp, held at high consistency, for a period ranging from a few minutes to an hour in a steam environment at temperatures from 130 to 170 degree C. The treatment considerably increases the wet-web stretch of high-yield sulfite, ultra high-yield sulfite and mechanical pulps. This improvement would be expected to enhance the wet-end runnability of newsprint furnishes.
