A three-dimensional hydrodynamic model was applied to investigate tide-induced circulation in the barrier-island estuary of the Apalachicola Bay. Model simulations were used to characterize tidal circulation. Results indicate that tidal circulation in the bay is strongly affected by the spatial and temporal variations of surface elevation in the bay resulting from the multiple tidal forces from different directions.
