Experience and operating characteristics associated with the production and use of high-alumina cement are reported. An example of the possible installation of a compact small production unit in an exisitng portland cement or lime manufacturing plant is presented, and attention is drawn to the required raw material quality. Not only the chemical composition but also the physical properties of the raw materials are of major importance in determining their suitability for utilization in the tank shaft kiln.
