Two machine designs have been developed for the rapid and stress-free sectioning of a range of engineering materials, including molybdenum coated steel, Inconel, honeycomb composites, glass and ceramics. The first type is fitted with a finite wire that operates with a reciprocating cutting motion at speeds of up to 1000 m/min. The second type is fitted with an endless wire capable of running at speeds up to 10,000 m/min.
