摘要：

The direct observation of iron whisker growth during iron ore reduction was conducted with a heating microscope. The influence of gas composition was studied extensively. An atmosphere which continuously and gradually changes composition from that in equilibrium with wustite to that of a higher reducing potential seems to be necessary to induce the growth of iron whiskers.
