Approximate analytical relationships can be derived between the parameters of an eddy-current probe and those of the test objects by approximating theoretical or experimental curves via fractionally rational functions. Formulas are derived for wide ranges of the generalized parameters (the relative error does not exceed 10%), which give the components of the induced impedance in a probe of solenoid type enclosing a solid electrically conducting nonmagnetic cyclinder, and also for a turn placed above an electrically conducting nonmagnetic half space or sheet.
