The features of an agreement signed between a number of leading Russian Federation defense manufacturers and Sukhoi AVPK are discussed. The agreement covered the development of the planned Perspektivnyi Aviatsionnyi Kompleks Frontovoi Aviatsyi fifth-generation fighter. Under the planned programme, Vympel will develop several new patterns of small-, medium- and long-range air-to-air missiles of the next generation. Vympel is unable to independently market its products abroad and is negotiating to join the Tactical Missiles Corporation JSC (TMC). With the achievement of the reorganization Vympel will enjoy much better export prospects and find it easier to make arrangements with its subcontractors.
