摘要
The main design concept in developing high gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) is to achieve high filtration efficiency with small power consumption. HGMS has been applied to various kinds of wastewater from steel mills. The results indicate that HGMS is more effective and economical than other filtration methods for the treatment of wastewater containing magnetic particles in terms of operating cost, space requirement, and installation cost, etc. Methods have been developed to properly deal with problems arising from characteristics of such wastewater as oil-contained water, calcium-bearing water, water containing large particles, and water containing non-magnetic particles.
