A design for a pressure cell which employed quartz fibers to optically access the sample was reported. The experimental setup presented in this work can be divided into three parts: the pump, the cell, and the optical passages. The obtained results showed the feasibility of high resolution optical experiments at low temperature and high pressure, employing helium as the pressure medium and a simple sample cell with optical fiber access. In comparison with the conventionally utilized anvil cells, the pressure range was more constrained but the pressure can be applied more accurately and the sample was less subjected to strain. Moreover, an especially attractive feature of the cell was its small external size while the internal space available was relatively significant.
