The dependences of the sulfur content on the silicon content in foundry pig iron at various manganese contents and on the slag basicity were determined. it is concluded that for all the analyzed pourings of foundry pig iron the sulfur content in the pig iron decreases with an increase in the silicon content at all investigated ranges of manganese content and slag basicity. In addition, the effect of slag basicity on the sulfur content noticeably decreases with an increase in the silicon content in the pig iron.
