Results of Recent Studies of Water Treatment Plants and Water-Steam Circuits.

The results presented concern the regeneration of ion exchangers used for total salt removal and the effect of organic substances on the blocking of functional groups of ion exchangers, leading to a reduction of capacity and eventually to degradation of the ion exchangers. The decarbonization of untreated water with lime plus the addition of a flocculant or a flocculation promotor is discussed. Also discussed are the results of measurements of the hydrogen content in hot steam and reheated steam which indicate irregularities resulting from overheating or corrosion of water-steam circuits, and the use of UV measurements to detect deposits of organic materials in water-steam circuits is described.
