摘要
A variable-frequency drive (VFD) is a device that processes the incoming sine waves and converts it to a form to suit varying speeds. The fundamental building blocks of this drive system are the power semiconductor switches. Of the available semiconductor switches, the insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) most closely meets the top six ideal characteristics. It has applications in both 480 V and medium-voltage spectra.
