This paper describes a method for modifying cationic dyes that they can be used to give deep, bright shades with satisfactory fastness properties on acrylic and anionic modified polyester fabrics when applied to transfer printing. Many cationic dyes were modified, and several were found suitable for transfer printing on acrylic fabric. A wide range of conditions for transfer printing was investigated. The deep, bright shades obtained on Orlon 75, and in later work on Dacron 92, provide a new dimension for styling of brilliant colors and designs.
