Well logging is a downhole hydrocarbon exploration method, which is used to discover reservoir and to provide scientific basis for the estimation of reserve and production of a reservoir. It was in 1939 that logging technology began to be used in the exploration of oil and gas in China. In 61 years from then on logging technology in China has experienced five stages of renewals. The first stage was semi-automatic logging technology, the second automatic logging technology, the third digital logging technology, the fourth computer-controlled logging technology, and the fifth imaging logging technology. Advances of these technologies have played a very important role in improving the efficiency and profit of hydrocarbon exploration.
