This specification refers to testing for Static Load and Dynamic Load Capacity and for Pile Integrity in normal contract use. A Static Load Test is one in which a deadweight or reaction is used to transfer load to a pile using a hydraulic ram either in stages over a time period or by moving the pile head in the direction of the load at a slow but constant rate (CRP or CRU test). A Dynamic Load test involves a transient load from a falling hammer or weight and is often associated with the installation of piles by driving. An Integrity test is directed towards discovering whether a pile is whole and sound. Each of these tests is covered in the specification, which was prepared by the Federation of Piling Specialists in the U. K.
