Strong metal support interaction (SMSI) effect on a metal supported catalyst is frequently reported on. This article discusses the preparation of nickel-silicon dioxide catalysts. By preparing the porous glass in SiO2-B2O3-Na2O-NiO system, and selecting an appropriate condition of spinodal and leaching the authors obtained a SMSI and highly porous surface catalyst.
