An x-ray study of adamantanone in a diamond-anvil high-pressure cell has confirmed the existence of a pressure-induced crystal phase transition, from a face-centered cubic structure with a equals 9. 56 A at atmospheric pressure to a tetragonal structure with a equals 7. 15 A and c equals 7. 82 A at 10 kbar. The transition pressure is 8 plus or minus 0. 5 kbar at 28 degree C.
