摘要
The cracks and other defects caused by the presence of hydrogen, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur in rail steels are examined. The forces acting on the rails during railroad operation are examined and their effect on crack propagation in rails has been determined. Brittle and fatigue fractures of rails and the effect of nonmetallic inclusions on contact fatigue of rails have been also determined.
