Pneumatic vibration isolation within forging systems is examined for its ability to minimize transmission of vibration from the system to the surrounding environment. The advantages of pneumatic isolators over other primary isolators, such as steel springs, are described. Pneumatic spring isolation for an 8,000 pound steam drop hammer is depicted as a typical application.
