In recent years significant progress has been made by Italian machine tool builders in the development of NC machines, especially where lathes and machining centers are concerned. And at this year's 12 Bi-Mu exhibition in Milan many of the new models were displayed, including the MACH 1 CNC lathe, in which upto 14 tools can remain set up, the Prince 500 V machining center, which can handle parts measuring 400 mm cube, the Vega CNC lathe, which is capable of accommodating workpieces 680 mm diameter by 640 mm long and incorporates new in-process gaging and adaptive control systems.
