A unique front and filter application that requires a filter with two passbands, low insertion loss, small size, and sharp frequency skirts has been met by a low loss surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter. The filter has passbands at 249 and 257 MHz with each passband of less than 3 dB insertion loss. The theory of equal-insertion loss multiple passbands is presented along with transducer matching and filter packaging and fabrication techniques.
