This article deals mainly with agitation froth machines but a cell with pneumatic agitation is also described. Denver Equipment offers two basic concepts: the Sub-A (cells with individualized flotation) and the D-R (flotation cells in a trough). In the Sub-A, the necessary air is self-entrained, whereas the D-R uses an auxiliary booster. One of the characteristics of the Sub-A is that all the pulp which is feeding a cell must pass at least once through the agitator. Cells are available in a range of sizes extending up to 14. 2 m**3. In the D-R cells, on the contrary, the mechanism increases the vertical recirculation of the pulp by making use of a sleeve which directs the pulp from the upper part of the cell towards the agitator. These cells are available for tanks from 0. 01 to 36. 1 m**3.
