摘要
Intrinsically conducting polymers are characterized by their extended chain conjugation. The electrical conductivity of these materials can be varied through oxidation or reduction reactions to cover the entire conductivity range from insulators to metals. The authors discuss some general topics relative to conducting polymers: synthesis methods, oxidation and reduction methods and critical properties. Of special interest is the use of these materials in novel applications such as electrodes in rechargeable batteries.
