Most electronic instruments for the indirect measurement of the arterial blood pressure by means of a cuff operates according to the Rive-Rocci and Korotkoff measuring procedure. Problems associated with these techniques are pointed out and solutions are indicated. The need for standardizing measurement methods and instruments is considered. Measurements performed on humans are mentioned as proof of the correctness of indirect blood-pressure measuring apparatus.
