This paper outlines several incineration options for disposing of waste chemicals resulting from remedial actions. The experiences of the Cincinnati Metropolitan District with the waste from the Chem Dyne site illustrate that incinerators can certainly be used effectively to eliminate environmental problems. Although there are currently only a few commercial incinerators accepting waste from remedial actions, incineration could very well expand its role in remedial clean-up operations if land disposal becomes more expensive due to increased regulatory constraints.
