From the experimentally determined dependence of the sulfur contents in molten iron, cobalt, and nickel on the holding time, the vapor pressure of the volatile component is calculated. With the help of Gibbs-Duhem and Gibbs-Helmholtz equations, activities of the metal and the thermodynamic function, viz., enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs free energy, of the metal-sulfur systems investigated are calculated in a wide range of compositions and temperatures.
