Acetone, beta-naphthol, mononitrobenzene, trichloro- and perchloroethylene added as denaturants to light petroleum oils can be determined quantitatively in about ten minutes by gas chromatography with an electron capture detector and high-pressure liquid chromatography with an ultraviolet detector. The proposed procedure makes use of a packed squalane column and of a second octadecylsilane columm.
