A dual-beam CO//2 laser system ″LEKKO II″ was completed for laser fusion experiments. The technical and physical problems investigated were double-band multi-line oscillation, short-pulse amplification, optimization of laser gas, isolation of stages, and suppression of parasitic oscillation. The output energy of 200 J per beam in a 3 ns pulse of a single rotational line was extracted from final amplifier of 1. 5 atm. laser gas. The measured output energy coincided well with the design value of the system. The laser output energy is increased up to 400 J per beam in 1 nsec by applying multiline pulse and increasing the laser gas pressure of final amplifier to 2 atm. achieved, and can be increased up to 400 J per beam in 1 nsec.
