Isotherms at 1963°K of the concentration functions of the partial and integral formation enthalpies of liquid Fe-Zr alloys (0.50 at.% Zr), were investigated experimentally. Formation enthalpies for the melts are caused mainly by electron contributions related to the changing character of d-zones of the components during fusion together. The first partial dissolution enthalpy of supercooled liquid Zr in liquid Fe equals -(75 ± 3) kJ/g-at. The minimum integral formation enthalpy of liquid binary Fe-Zr alloys is reached when they contain 47 at.% Zr, and equals -(15.2 ± 0.4) kJ/g-at.
