The paper presents results of experiments involving explosive welding of aluminum to carbon steel and copper to aluminum. These bimetal plates are used as transition joints for connecting aluminum bus bars to anodes and cathodes. After thermal cycling to simulate possible service conditions, the results demonstrate a good quality of the welds obtained.
