Variations in the inelastic properties of Cu-Ni-Fe alloys were analyzed in relation to crystal structural changes during decomposition. This was experimentally done by the damping of free flexural vibrations at 1-2 KH2. Changes in microstructure and composition wavelength were monitored by transmission electron microscopy. Amplitude-dependent internal transmission friction measurements were examined using the Granato-Luecke model. The response of amplitude-dependent internal friction to the loss of coherency between the precipitates and the matrix is discussed.
