A catalytic Combustor for gas turbines, using hexaaluminate catalyst honeycombs, has been developed and tested on a labo-scale catalytic combustor and a 150 kW gas turbine. The fuel used for the tests was natural gas (13A). The characteristics of NOx emission and combustion efficiency were investigated. Results indicated extremely high durability of honeycomb at high temperatures over 1 200 °C, high combustion efficiency over 99% and low NOx emission under 33 ppm (O2:0%). However, it was also apparent that further reduction of the inlet temperature of combustion catalysis is required to improve the reduction of NOx emission from catalytic combustors.
