The use of electronic computers in metallurgy was held at the Moscow Steel and Alloys Institute (MISIS). In the sintering and blast-furnace section ways and possibilities of applying the computers in the practical operation of blast-furnace plants and in pellet production were mainly considered. The present status of the problem of studying the blast-furnace process as a control object in the USSR and abroad was analyzed, and a brief account is given of the content of the main reports and contributions.
