The quantitative analysis method for the study on liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) of ammonium sulfate-polyethylene glycol (PEG) aqueous two-phase ternary system was established. LLE together with critical point data of four series of experiments composed of different molecular weight of PEG (1000, 1540, 2000 and 4000) at 25°C were determined. The modified UNIQUAC and UNIFAC equations, combined with the Fowler-Guggenheim equation, are proposed for the correlation of LLE data. The calculated concentration values are in good agreement with the experimental ones. The modified UNIFAC equation has the predictability for the (NH4)2SO4-PEG-H2O system.
