摘要
Glass is a brittle, fragile material, whereas metal is strong and ductile. When glass is bonded to carbon steel, an entirely new family of materials of construction having special charcteristics is produced. This glass-metal composite has the strength and versatility of steel, combined with the chemical resistance and easy cleanabililty of glass. This review discusses the chemical and physical properites of glass linings as well as some aspects of their installation, operation and maintenance. Special attention is paid to thermal shock resistance, abrasion resistance, and repair of damaged equipment.
