In 1983 the Minerals & Metals Trading Corporation of India Ltd (MMTC), was set up to handle Indian exports of minerals. The main minerals which MMTC has been exporting on a regular basis are iron ore, manganese ore, chrome ore and coal. Several other minerals were also handled by the Corporation for varying periods depending primarily on Government policy with regard to their export. The article highlights trade developments and gives statistics for the period 1964-1986.
